Santorini in a Glance

Santorini (Thira) is located at the southernmost point of the Cyclades and is essentially a group of islands consists of the islands of Thira, Thirasia (Thirasia), the Aspronissi, Palea and Nea Kameni.

Santorini is considered the prime romantic destination in Greece. Whitewashed magnificent cities built on a cliff, picturesque villages, cobbled streets and impressive churches bathed in light … In love couples flock each year to the volcanic island looking to enjoy embraced in a balcony of the Caldera the glabally famous Santorini sunset. The Villages

The island’s capital is Fira. Built on the Caldera, 260 m. above sea level, with wonderful views to the blue waters of the Aegean and the island of Nea Kameni, seem to be a breath away from heaven … Fira along with Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia spread out along the Caldera enchant the visitor, each with its own distinctive way. Note here that the whole settlement of Oia is the first in Greece considered as preserved. Not incidentally, as it resembles artwork carved in rocks created by volcanic lava … Other less famous but equally beautiful villages worth visiting are Akrotiri and Mesa Vouno with the famous archaeological sites, Pirgos, Karterades, Emporio, Amoudi, Foinikia, Perissa, Perivolos, Megalochori, Kamari, Messaria and Monolithos. Some are more cosmopolitan, some are quieter, surrounded by vast vineyards, other are dominated by high castles with breathtaking views to the ocean, however all of them have a special and fascinating personality.

Local Products

Who is not familiar with the unique local products of Santorini? White eggplant, tomatoes, beans, capers and fresh cheese: all delicious ingredients of delicious local dishes which will be duly appreciated by gourmets! The island is also considered one of the most organized wine-tourism destinations in the country. The volcanic soil of the island favor the vinification of wines with a distinctive personality and aroma. Taste the main varieties like Assyrtiko, Athiri, Aidani, Mantilaria and Mavrotragano, in one of the numerous wineries of the island (many operate as museums) or in a restaurant by candlelight ….
